🤔HOW CAN YOU SOUND LESS SPANISH IN ENGLISH?
CAREFUL!
ship❌or
sheep✅
Spanish speaking students have a little problem😔 with the looooong and short sounds of i and eeeeee.
It can be great fun learning the difference though 😅

THE SOUNDS
👂/ɪ/ Sound (as in "ship"):
Short vowel
💋Mouth position: Relaxed, lips slightly parted.
👅Tongue position: Mid-high, closer to the front of the mouth.
Example words: ship, sit, hit, bit, pick.

👂/i:/ Sound (as in "sheep"):
Vowel quality: Long vowel.
💋Mouth position: Tensed, lips spread wide.
👅Tongue position: High and towards the front of the mouth.
Example words: sheep, seat, heat, beat, peak.

Pairs of words where the only difference is the /ɪ/ and /i:/ sound (e.g., ship/sheep, bit/beat, hit/heat)

We love helping with this ❤
